Last December I coined 2016 the Year of Yes. I wanted to take advantage of every opportunity, travel to new places, deepen relationships, and give more attention to To B Candid. Unlike years past, where my resolution would start to fizzle towards the end of February, I lived each day of 2016 to the fullest. My Nonno always said you have to live for today, but pay for tomorrow. I decided to just live for today, which is why 2017 will be a year of budgeting and adulting. *le sigh*
Things have been awfully quiet over on the blog these last few weeks because for the first time in years I actually did nothing over the holiday break. When I say nothing, I maybe got dressed a small handful of days, and primarily lounged in yoga pants with my family. I eased up on social media, spent time with family, slept, took advantage of visiting local sites and hiking trails, slept some more, and ate enough to get through winter hibernation. My fridge is now stocked with healthy eats, I’ve eased my way into my normal exercise routine again, and I spent the last couple of days getting organized for the first work week of the year. The recharge was so necessary, and in the future I need to remind myself how wonderful a staycation truly is.
Like most, these past few days were filled with excitement and hope in ways to make the new year better than the last. A larger apartment opened up in our complex so we’ll be moving in the next few weeks, we have plans to visit family in Charleston and friends in Kentucky for the Derby this spring, and though we have no international trips on the horizon (yet) that doesn’t mean I’m not dreaming and saving for our next big adventure.
2017, you have some big shoes to fill, but I have a feeling you’re going to be a good one. xx
